Nagaoka city is the second largest city in Niigata Prefecture. It can be reached in about 90 minutes or 3 hours from Tokyo by Shinkansen (bullet train) or Kan-Etsu Expressway (bus line), respectively. Nagaoka city touches the Sea of Japan on the northwest side and has the amount of forests and beautiful mountains on the southeast side.
The Shinano River, the longest river in Japan, flows through the central part of the city from south to north. and the extensive river bed lies along the river, where Nagaoka Fireworks Festival, one of the most famous firework festivals in Japan, is held in summer.

Our campus is located in a setting surrounded by rich greenery, providing a very pleasant living environment. The surrounding area provides opportunities for many extracurricular activities. In spring, university premises makes a wonderful scenary with chery blossoms wich attract many outside visiters to the university.
Living cost in Nagaoka area is relatively lower than the other crowded cities like Tokyo, Osaka etc.
